PORTLAND (WGME) -- The Maine Red Claws and Raptors 905 did two things Saturday night - play basketball and helping those with autism at the same time.
The Portland Expo is usually a loud place with flashing lights and music, hoping to engage fans as they watch the game.
However on Autism Awareness Night, the Red Claws, the Boston Celtics' G League team, partnered with Volk Packaging in a couple of ways.
Maine's players wore special puzzle piece themed jerseys, and the game was played in a sensory-reduced environment with limited volume, flashing lights and other game presentation elements.
Proceeds from the 50/50 raffle went to Spurwink Services as well.
The Red Claws won the game 99-98.
