NORTH READING, MA (WGME) -- First responders in Massachusetts saved a choking puppy.
A couple noticed their 9-month-old St. Bernard puppy, who they had just adopted the day before, was choking, and they ran into the North Reading Police Department lobby.
Police officers reacted right away, giving a modified version of the “Heimlich maneuver.”
They dislodged whatever was choking the puppy and then, firefighters came in with oxygen to help revive the dog, according to WBZ-TV.
The puppy is recovering at the vet.
One officer pointed out to WBZ-TV that St. Bernards have a reputation as lifesavers and that they were glad that they could return the favor.
