Woman arrested for setting fire, slapping officer after fight with boyfriend
DOVER, NH (WGME) -- An early morning fight between a woman and her boyfriend inside a Dover, NH business they were staying in led to arson and simple assault on a police officer charges Saturday.
Dover Police said Deena Dumaine, 35, was arrested and charged with arson, criminal mischief, simple assault on a police officer and resisting arrest at Armor-Guard Sealcoating on Central Avenue.
Around 12:50 a.m. Saturday, police responded to a report of a woman setting a building on fire. The first officer arriving on scene heard the sound of glass breaking and saw flames on the side of the building, along with Dumaine standing next to the building.
Dumaine reportedly fled the scene but was quickly taken into custody. Police said she slapped the officer in the chest at the time.
Other officers arrived and used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire before finding a man inside the building, who is Dumaine's boyfriend.
The couple had been staying the building with the owner's permission.
Investigators learned the couple had a dispute, and afterward Dumaine broke the window and started the fire.
No one was injured in the incident.
Dumaine was released on $2,500 bail, with her first court appearance scheduled for July 19.
