Waterville police step up patrols outside Walmart after women report being harassed
WATERVILLE (WGME) – Waterville police say multiple women have reported being harassed outside of the local Walmart.
Now police are stepping up patrols.
Police say multiple women reported a black male coming up to them and saying inappropriate and sexual things on Monday.
Police are increasing patrols in the Waterville Commons area, and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
They say they're making sure something like this doesn't happen again.
"We obviously don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable,” Deputy Chief William Bonney said. “We want our shopping centers to be a welcoming environment to both people from our community and to folks outside of our community. So going ahead and doing stuff like this just makes people feel uncomfortable."
Police say anyone who sees suspicious activity should immediately call them, and try to give as many details of the person as possible to help find them faster.
