Walk to End Alzheimer's raises more than $188,000

More than 900 people came out for the Walk to End Alzheimer's in Portland Saturday. (WGME)

PORTLAND (WGME) -- More than 900 people joined the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Saturday at Payson Park in Portland.

Walkers raised more than $188,00 to fund Alzheimer's care, support and research programs.

In Maine alone, there are more than 28,000 people living with the disease and 69,000 caregivers providing unpaid care.

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care.
