CASCO (WGME) – Two people have died in a crash on Route 302 in Casco.

Right now, part of that busy route is closed.

The crash happened on Route 302 near the entrance of the Point Sebago golf course. Officials are still working the scene to understand how this fatal accident happened.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office says two people are dead and a third person is seriously injured after the two vehicles collided around 4 Tuesday afternoon.

One vehicle was towing a jet ski on a trailer.

State Police have identified the two people killed in the Casco crash as 53-year-old Jamie Mantz and 80-year-old Carol Strom of Bridgton.

Police say Mantz was driving, with Strom in the passenger seat, when she crossed the center line and hit a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Austin Wood of Naples head-on.

Wood was transported to Maine Medical Center with serious head and leg injuries. He is in critical care at this time.

Route 302 is currently closed from Brown Ave. all the way to State Park Road and will be for several hours.
