Three teens in custody in connection to Litchfield homicide
LITCHFIELD (WGME) -- Three teenagers are in police custody in connection with the death of a woman in Litchfield.
Police say 47-year-old Kimberly Mironovas' body was found around 2 a.m. Sunday inside her home on Hallowell Road in Litchfield. Police have ruled her death a homicide.
Maine State Police and the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office spent the day Sunday investigating the scene.
Police say three male teenagers have been taken into custody, one being Mironovas' 15-year-old son.
“Everyone we talked to this morning is just in shock. We can't believe it,” Anthony Coco, president of the Aveda Institute, said.
Coco says Mironovas was a student at the Aveda Institute in Augusta and had just moved to Maine from Massachusetts this past fall.
He says she was working on clients at the cosmetology school during the day on Saturday, and he has no idea what could've happened later that night at her home.
“I do know that she had a teenage boy, I don't know if that has anything to do with who's in custody,” Coco said.
The three teenagers arrested in connection to Mironovas’ death could be in court as early as Monday afternoon.
“It’s really sad. Our hearts go out to her family and hope they can get through this,” Coco said.
The Maine Attorney General’s Office is handling the investigation as a homicide.
