BELGRADE (WGME) -- Maine State Police say a 17-year-old boy was arrested at gunpoint Monday afternoon inside one of eight seasonal homes that had been broken into in Belgrade along Messalonskee Lake.

Police say an alarm was set off at a home on Dustin Drive and a trooper found the home had been broken into.

The trooper then discovered several other homes had also been broken into along nearby Kerschner Road.

Police say the teen was found in one of the camps and was taken into custody.

In all, police say eight summer homes had been broken into, including one the boy had been living in.

The boy, who had run away from his home in Vassalboro, was charged with burglary and released to the custody of his mother, according to police.

Troopers are still trying to determine what items were taken from the homes other than tools and food.

Additional charges are expected to be filed against the teen.
