WINDHAM (WGME) – Windham police are investigating a deadly crash that killed a teenage girl Tuesday night.

Police say two young women and three teenage girls were in car heading north on River Road in Windham when the driver lost control of the vehicle coming around a curve and ended up crashing into a tree.

Police say 18-year-old Melinda Easter, of Raymond, was the driver.

Police say she and three of her passengers were taken to Maine Medical Center. They are all in stable condition.

However, police say 15-year-old Tyonna Adams, of Westbrook, died at the scene.

Tyonna went to Westbrook High School.

Grief counselors are at the school Wednesday for students trying to deal with the tragedy.

Windham police continue to investigate the fatal crash.

They say speed may have been a factor, but it was also raining Tuesday night.
