HARRISON (WGME) -- The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office says a 16-year-old girl had to be airlifted to the hospital after a crash in Harrison Thursday afternoon.
Deputies say the Harrison teen was driving a Toyota Rav4 on Summit Road around 3:20 p.m. when she lost control of the vehicle, went off the road, spun, and struck a tree on the driver’s side.
The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken by Life Flight to Maine Medical Center in Portland, according to deputies.
A second 16-year-old girl in the vehicle was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway for evaluation.
The extent of driver’s injuries are unknown.
Deputies say speed was a factor in the crash. The crash is still under investigation.
