State police respond to shooting in Richmond

A shooting brought a large police presence to a home on Alexander Reed Road in Richmond. (WGME)

RICHMOND (WGME) – State police are investigating a shooting in Richmond on Alexander Reed Road.

State police are searching for answers Thursday evening after they say they arrived to a home on Alexander Reed Road and found a person shot.

At this point, state police say they believe the shooting is self-inflicted.

They wouldn’t comment on the person’s condition. Officers from Richmond, Sagadahoc County, and state police all are on scene.

Nearby neighbors say a family of four lives there, and they don’t know what happened.

State police say the Major Crimes Unit will be on scene for the time being while the investigation continues.
