PORTLAND (WGME) -- Justice Brett Kavanaugh is now on the United States Supreme Court and hearing a variety of cases this week.

Earlier this week on Capitol Hill, a conservative group of women delivered letters to the senators who voted to confirm him, thanking them for getting him on the bench.

The group's president says she hopes the letters counter the negativity lawmakers heard during the confirmation process.

“There were tons of women who were here who were saying they were opposed, but we were here too,” Moms for America President Kimberly Fletcher said. “We want to come back and say thank you for standing strong and courageous for the constitution and for this good man.”

Fletcher says she got letters from women across the county.

She says Senator Susan Collins of Maine received the most letters, followed by Senators Grassley, Graham, and Flake.

Last month, Justice Kavanaugh faced heavy scrutiny over accusations of sexual misconduct before his confirmation.

Protesters demonstrated outside of Capitol Hill and around the country for weeks.
