RSU 16 schools to open Thursday after 22 buses vandalized
POLAND (WGME) -- School officials and mechanics in Poland spent Wednesday repairing 22 school buses after two people slashed their tires overnight.
Twenty-two school buses in the RSU 16 school district were fixed Wednesday afternoon, and police say they are still looking for who did it.
Surveillance footage shows the two men police are looking for. They say they don't know why this happened.
School district officials say they are grateful for the help from Maine Commercial Tire.
"Supplied several units to come here to help our mechanics get these buses up and running," RSU 16 Operations Director Craig Worth said.
Worth says the district was forced to close school Wednesday, but says Thursday is a different story.
"Pretty much guaranteed that we will be open for school tomorrow," Worth said.
Police say the crime could be connected to other incidents.
School officials say changes could be in store for RSU 16.
