AUBURN (WGME) -- A 20-pound raccoon has been rescued, after it got stuck beneath a dumpster in Auburn on Tuesday.

Rich Burton, a state animal welfare agent who came to the rescue, shared images with CBS 13 of the animal trapped outside a Denny's restaurant.

The animal wedged itself under the dumpster, trying to avoid capture.

Burton, using a jack to lift the dumpster, eventually got the raccoon out and into a cage, but it put up a fight, with Burton getting scratched.

The animal didn't appear to be rabid, and was released at the Durham boat launch.
