Prostitution crackdown nets 4 more men in Lewiston

LEWISTON (SUN JOURNAL) -- Police arrested four more men Wednesday night as a crackdown on downtown prostitution continued.

Charged with engaging a prostitute were:

  • Clovis Niyukuris, 36, of 25 Pine St., arrested at 5:08 p.m. on Horton Street

  • Timothy Harlow, 41, of 36 Trask Road, North Turner, arrested at 6:20 p.m. on Ash Street

  • Samatar Hassan, 33, of 23 Horton St., arrested at 7:30 p.m. at 23 Horton St.

  • Dennis Walker, 57, of 75 Oak St., arrested at 8:33 p.m. at Oak and Bates streets.

A week ago, six men were charged in a similar operation near the corner of Ash and Horton streets.

Since the start of the year, police have been collaborating with the Androscoggin County District Attorney’s Office and local social service advocates to address prostitution, especially in inner-city areas.
