Potential for severe thunderstorms could bring damaging winds, flooding

STATEWIDE (WGME) – The potential for severe thunderstorms could bring damaging winds and heavy rain Monday.

The greatest threat is away from the coast.

Thunderstorms and showers will arrive Monday afternoon and continue into the evening.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect from 2 p.m. Monday until Tuesday morning for portions of Maine.

Showers and thunder storms will bring heavy rainfall. One to two inches expected with locally higher amounts possible.

Heavy rain in a short period of time could bring flash flooding.

Thunderstorms could also bring damaging winds. Gusts up to 35 mph are possible Monday afternoon.

Monday will also be very warm and humid. Highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s with dew points into the low 70s.
