Body found of Portland man who went missing in blizzard

Police say 50-year-old Robert Smith left his Luke Street home at 10 a.m. (Portland Police Department)

PORTLAND (WGME) – Portland Police say they have found the body of 50-year-old Robert Smith.

Police say his body was recovered after a search was conducted by canine teams from the Maine Warden Service and Portland Police Department.

Robert had been missing since Tuesday when he left his Luke Street home around 10 a.m.

He was seen by a neighbor walking into the woods at the end of Luke Street during the storm. His body was recovered just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say the cause and manner of death is pending an examination by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner
