SACO (WGME) – A dog reported missing Tuesday afternoon in Saco has been found dead.

Police say she was hit by a car in Gray.

Police have been investigating the dog's disappearance as a theft since the beginning, but after our story first aired about the dog at 5 p.m., a viewer called police to say they had seen her wandering the streets in Gray.

Five-year-old Uhdelle was reported missing after not returning from a walk at Timber Ridge Farm in Saco.

Her owner says Gray Animal Control found Uhdelle after she had been hit and killed by a car Tuesday night.

They identified her through a micro-chip, because the dog's collar had been taken off.

Gray is more than 30 miles north of where Uhdelle was reported missing.

Police originally tracked the dog through a GPS collar and they got suspicious about why she was traveling so far, so fast.

Uhdelle was one of more than a dozen German Shepherds in the Timber Ridge Farm training program.

If you have any information about the how Uhdelle got to Gray, or the circumstances surrounding her death, you're asked to please call Buxton or Saco police.
