Parents unsettled by accusations against Freeport teacher
PORTLAND (WGME) -- A Freeport teacher now faces more than two dozen charges.
He's accused of having sex with a minor.
Thirty-seven-year-old Derek Boyce was indicted by an Androscoggin County grand jury.
The 26 charges come from allegations that he had sex with an underage student who attends Pine Tree Academy.
Boyce worked there as math teacher before he was placed on administrative leave in September.
According to court documents, the victim's mother caught him engaged in a sex act with the minor in her living room.
Freeport parents say the story is unsettling.
"It's very upsetting, I guess, to think that teachers would cross that line," Kim Cochran said.
Boyce is in jail and is expected to appear in court on Friday.
