FREEPORT (WGME) -- One of Maine’s oldest residents is celebrating her 111th birthday Tuesday.
Dorris Farrar lives at the Hawthorne House in Freeport.
Friends and family were on hand Tuesday to help her celebrate the milestone with a little cake and some dancing.
Dorris was born in Bar Harbor in 1906.
When she was young, her family moved to Connecticut and then to Massachusetts.
Dorris returned to Maine in 2003.
"Dorris Darrar has been here since she was 104 She's amazing. She walks with a walker. She sends letters. She's just awesome,” Sheila Michaud, CAN, said
At 111, Dorris isn't the oldest person in America, but she is close.
Right now the oldest person is 113 and lives in Pennsylvania.
Dorris says she's Tom Brady’s oldest fan and has sent him a letter asking to meet him. She hasn't heard back yet.
In 1906, Theodore Roosevelt was our president and in that same year San Francisco was hit by a massive earthquake.
