LYMAN (WGME) -- Police are investigating, after vandals destroy a highly visible campaign sign in York County.

The sign opposes Question 3 on the November ballot.

The head of the No on 3 campaign says they've had at least 12 signs vandalized over the past few weeks, mostly in York and Cumberland counties.

No on Question 3 opposes a question on the November ballot which would require stricter background checks for gun owners.

It's set to be a very heated topic over the next few weeks before the election.

Members at the York County Fish & Game Club say they'd be willing to sit down with anyone who may disagree with their stance and talk things out.

The club says they have reached out to local police to investigate.

CBS 13 reached to that campaign and they say their supporters have had similar issues as well.
