KENNEBUNKPORT (WGME) – The memorial at the anchor across from Walker's Point continues to grow, with people leaving flowers, American flags, and special notes for President George H.W. Bush.
People from near and far have come to pay their respects to the late President.
A lot of the notes were left by children, writing how they wish they'd had the chance to meet the President and his wife Barbara.
Every single note, memory, and trinket left behind for the Bushes will be collected and given to the family.
"There's a lot of touching memorial tributes to hear from people in the Navy a lot of vets have come down and left notes too there's a lot of flags,” volunteer Tim Dietz said. “There's a lot to look at here."
Eventually, some of the memorabilia left at the anchor will be displayed at the Bush Museum in Houston.
