WESTBROOK (WGME) -- Police surrounded a home in Westbrook Friday afternoon, shutting down a road for hours.

Officers say they were investigating a suicidal man armed with a shotgun, and had learned he'd left the home, and was circling the neighborhood.

Several officers searched the Pleasant Street neighborhood, one with a gun drawn.

Police pulled over two vehicles during their search, calling one a high-risk traffic stop.

It took police about an hour to locate the service van on nearby Mechanic Street by Prospect Street.

Witnesses say they ordered the driver out of the car, and onto the ground.

Police say they removed a shotgun and realistic-looking pellet rifle from the car.

They found a second pellet rifle at the man's home.

The man was taken to Maine Medical Center for a mental health evaluation, and police are reviewing the case to determine if charges are warranted.
