Man charged with manslaughter following deadly Windham crash
WINDHAM (WGME) -- A grand jury indicted a man on Friday for manslaughter, aggravated OUI, and other charges in connection to a deadly Windham crash last November.
Windham police say 49-year-old Manford Rideout, of Windham, was driving a tow truck on Tandberg Trail on November 13, 2018 when he crossed the centerline and hit two oncoming vehicles.
The tow truck first struck the side of tractor trailer, driven by 59-year-old David LaPlante, of Waterville, according to police.
Police say the tow truck then hit a Toyota Prius, nearly head-on, which was driven by 34-year-old Adam Clark, of Augusta.
Clark was killed in the crash. LaPlante was not injured.
Police say after weeks of investigation, a grand jury indicted Rideout on Friday on charges of manslaughter, aggravated OUI, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, and violation of condition of release.
Rideout has been in police custody since November 14 for violation of conditions of release.
He is being held at the Cumberland County Jail.
