Making a Difference: World of Change
PORTLAND (WGME) – A new organization is going broke, trying to raise a mountain of cash for charities around the country.
Inside a kindergarten class, there is a world of change going on.
The children are learning how a little thing, can make a big difference.
Matt Hoidal is chief "changemaker."
"Having spent almost fifteen years working for non-profits, what I've always loved is how communities rally together,” Hoidal said. “And this whole concept of change is such an opportunity vehicle to teach kids about making a difference."
The concept is simple. Gather up your spare change, and pool it together. Even a six year old can understand that math.
World of Change will be choosing established charities to support. Each change jar represents a different area of need.
Hoidal says it's estimated there is $10 billion in spare change out there. This fall, World of Change hopes to have collected a mountain of it to display in Monument Square.
