KENNEBUKPORT (WGME) -- In Kennebunkport, there was a beautiful moment during the funeral for George H.W. Bush.

Donald Lauzier of Saco stood near Walker’s Point and played taps for President Bush.

It was a difficult day, and year, in Kennebunkport, losing George and Barbara Bush.

CBS 13 found while many mourned in Kennebunkport, some served.

People came from near and far to leave a gift, or good will, for our 41st President.

Lesa Angelos and Sue Roux volunteer with the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust.

They kept watch over the growing memorial outside the Bushes’ summer home.

Donald Lauzier from Saco performed taps, blowing each note into the wind over Walker's Point, for a World War II veteran, and Kennebunkport's favorite son.

Together again, George and Barbara are gone from Kennebunkport, but never from the hearts of those who call this place home.

“When Sue and I arrived this morning, there were literally two rays of light, coming right down there and we said, ‘There they are,’” Angelos said.

While the funerals are held away from Maine, the people in Kennebunkport are planning a memorial for President Bush on Gooch's Beach Sunday morning at 9.
