HEBRON (WGME) – When it comes to dogs, some are good companions, some love humans and others love sledding.

Alexander Therriualt is the pack leader of "The Ultimate Dog Sledding Experience," which runs a kennel in Oxford and sleds in Hebron.

"I used to race,” Therriualt said. “I raced professionally for about seven years. My dad started the kennel before I was born, and I took over at about 19."

People can sled through the Maine wilderness on 1-3 hour long sessions.

"We've gone and gone and done 20 tours, 40 tours, this year we're on pace for 320," Therriualt said.

But he says this business is all about the dogs.

"It's my passion, it's my dream, and it gets me to be able to keep all my dogs, and keep breeding, and bringing more of these cuties into life," Therriualt said.

He says they spend about $30,000 a year on dog food, and says it's worth it to see the smiles on the faces of dogs and customers.

"We hear that it's a bucket list item, that I needed to do this once, needed to do this once,” Therriualt said. “Then they get here, and go, ‘Wow, I have to do that next year.’"
