Maine CDC confirms 21 deaths from flu
PORTLAND (WGME) – The flu is spreading in Maine, with the CDC now reporting more than 20 deaths.
There is no way to know if it will get worse before it gets better, which has doctors urging people to take precautions, and churches offering their prayers to those who are sick.
From churches, to hospitals, the flu in Maine is rapidly becoming concern number one.
The CDC in Maine is now confirming 21 deaths from influenza.
That has churches altering their traditions during mass, discouraging parishioners from shaking hands and sharing wine, and doctors asking everyone to be aware of symptoms.
This particular strain of the flu is more severe than some others.
Doctors say a flu shot is the best way to prevent the disease.
And in order to avoid spreading the illness, doctors say, stay home.
People over 65 and under two are most at risk, along with those with immune system issues.
