Gunfire reported Saturday morning in Lewiston
LEWISTON (WGME) -- Police and emergency crews swarmed downtown Lewiston after gunfire broke out around 10:45 a.m.
Law enforcement officials were on the scene for hours in the area of College St. and Union St. after receiving reports of several gun shots being fired at a passing vehicle.
According to Lewiston Police, a 60-year-old male pedestrian was treated for what was first reported to be a gunshot wound to his leg. Police now say they doubt the injury was a result of the incident.
A parked vehicle in the area was struck by gunfire.
There have been no arrests yet, but police said they executed a search warrant alongside ATF and FBI agents in the evening which led to the seizure of two firearms.
Police are currently working with the Androscoggin County District Attorney's Office as charges will likely be forthcoming in connection with this investigation.
Lewiston Police said they do not believe this was a random shooting, but still urge the public to be aware of their surroundings and personal safety.
