Lawmakers to hear testimony on bill to ban conversion therapy
AUGUSTA (WGME) -- Lawmakers will hear testimony Wednesday on a bill that would ban "conversion therapy" in Maine.
Conversion therapy is the controversial practice of medical and mental health professionals trying change someone's sexual orientation or gender identity.
The bill to ban conversion therapy in Maine has bipartisan support in both the House and Senate.
Nine other states and the District of Columbia have already passed laws banning the practice.
