1000+ CMP customers without power after car hits embankment

LIVERMORE (WGME) -- More than 1,800 customers are without power in Livermore and Livermore Falls, after a car accident put a vehicle off the side of the bridge over the Androscoggin River on Route 4 in Livermore.

It happened around 8 p.m. Saturday night.

Photos sent to WGME by viewers show a vehicle off the road, near the shore of the river.

Dispatchers tell WGME that before the car hit a snow embankment, it hit a telephone pole and blew a transformer, causing power outages for more than 1,800 customers, as of 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

There are no reported injuries.

The road is back open.

According to CMP's website, as of Sunday morning power had been stored to all customers in Livermore and Livermore Falls.

State police say the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
