PORTLAND (WGME) -- A hiring fair in Portland is hoping to help people in recovery land jobs.
The fair was held today at the Portland Expo and featured at least 25 companies. Organizers were hoping to find employment for those recovering from substance abuse.
Steve Danzig, the executive director of ENSO Recovery, says that for those in recovery, having a job is critical.
“One of the key pieces to promoting sustained recovery is having employment,” Danzig said. “And it doesn’t have to be a career, it just has to be something to get people in early recovery out of bed in the morning.”
The event offered resume and interview workshops and also provided an opportunity for people to donate business casual clothes.
Organizers hope to host more job fairs in the future.
