Florida man trips, hits head on rock while running from deputies in Raymond

    RAYMOND (WGME) -- The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office says a highly intoxicated Florida man ran into the woods in Raymond while fleeing from deputies, tripped over a stump, and struck his head on a rock.

    Deputies say they were investigating an impaired driver on Route 302 around 12:20 a.m. Thursday.

    During the investigation, deputies say a male passenger in the vehicle identified as 27-year-old Felton Taylor Young of Kissimmee, Florida, was in possession of a stolen cell phone.

    Deputies say Young appeared to be highly intoxicated and was sitting on the ground when he suddenly stood up and ran across Route 302 into a densely wooded area.

    The deputies say they chased Young, and he apparently tripped over a stump and struck his head on a rock.

    Young was taken to Maine Medical Center with head and neck injuries.

    The incident is remains under investigation.
