FALMOUTH (WGME) -- Four teens from Falmouth came to CBS 13 to talk to about a once in a lifetime journey.

The group of 11 spent their spring break aboard the Oliver Hazard Perry, sailing the seas of the Atlantic Ocean.

The Perry is a one of a kind tall ship and is the largest sailing school in the U.S.

“I really like sailing. My grandparents sail in the summer and I’ve been sailing in Casco Bay and I also went sailing in Puerto Rico in February, so I’m just excited to have more time sailing,” Jordan McDermitt, Falmouth junior, said.

“The teamwork aspect of it, I think, will be really cool because you learn a lot about teamwork through sports in school, but this is totally abstract compared to a normal type of learning,” Katelynne Schmidt, Falmouth senior, said.

The students flew to Bermuda. They spent nine days sailing north and arrived in Rhode Island last week.
