Driver hurt in crash with gas pump in Scarborough

Owners of the Oak Hill Mini Mart station say a truck collided with the pump at around 6 p.m. (WGME)

SCARBOROUGH (WGME) – A driver is hurt and a gas pump is ripped from the ground after a crash in Scarborough Thursday night.

Owners of the Oak Hill Mini Mart station say a truck collided with the pump at around 6 p.m.

Witnesses said that the driver may have suffered a broken arm, and a child passenger was transported but appeared OK.

The pumps were shut down immediately, but no gas was spilled.

One of the gas station's co-owners said the car went straight for the pump, going more than 30 miles an hour.

The owners estimate $20-30,000 of damage to the pump alone.

The rest of the pumps under the canopy could be operational again as soon as Friday.
