Distracted Maine driver slams into vehicle causing it to catch fire, police say

HAMPDEN (WGME) -- Maine State Police say distracted 19-year-old driver crashed into a vehicle on I-95 in Hampden Thursday night.

Police say 19-year-old Anthony Hodge, of Gorham, driving a 2003 Nissan Altima in the northbound lane and was distracted by his phone when his car slammed into the rear of a 2003 Dodge Dakota, driven by 32-year-old Frank Corso, of Tampa, Florida.

Hodge's car then caught fire, shutting down the northbound lane for nearly an hour, according to police.

Corso, along with his wife, and infant daughter were all taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police charged Hodge with failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
