WATERBORO (WGME) -- A Dexter man ran away from deputies after they tried to pull him over Wednesday afternoon, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say when they tried to stop 30-year-old David Barrett on Sokokis Trail, he got out of his truck and ran into a nearby home.
The homeowner let deputies search the property and as they did they say Barrett escaped out of a bathroom window and hid in the woods.
Deputies found him hiding in some brush.
Deputies say Barrett, who appeared intoxicated, had a suspended driver’s license. He was also under bail conditions and was prohibited from possessing or consuming alcohol.
He was arrested and charged with operating after suspension, felony operating under the influence (x3), refusing to submit to arrest or detention, violating conditions of release, and operating without a license.
Barrett will make his initial court appearance on Friday. He is not eligible for bail.
