NEW GLOUCESTER (WGME) -- A Skowhegan woman will face charges after a Jeep she was driving crashed, struck a telephone and hit several trees near the Gray/New Gloucester town line early Sunday morning.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened around 1:13 a.m. Sunday in the area of 49 Maine St, or Route 26, in New Gloucester.

The Jeep was driven by Tia White, 26, of Skowhegan. White was driving southbound when the Jeep went off the road, struck the pole and the trees before stopping.

White and her passenger, Levi Rajaniemi, 27, of Rumford were taken to Maine Medical Center. Rajaniemi suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries, while White suffered minor injuries.

Police said alcohol was a factor and criminal charges will be made.

The Jeep was totaled in the crash, and Route 26 was down to one lane of traffic for several hours.
