BRUNSWICK (WGME) -- A home in Brunswick has been condemned after police say they found more than 40 dogs and a bird living in poor conditions.
Police say 44 dogs and one bird were seized from a home on River Road Friday.
Brunswick Police say Kyle and Diana Enman, who are relatives of the property owners, were summonsed for offenses including cruelty to animals, failing to give animals humanely clean conditions, sustenance, proper indoor shelter, and necessary medical attention.
Several entities worked together, including animal welfare agents, two humane societies, and the Lewiston and Brunswick police departments.
The pair will be arraigned in November and police say the investigation is ongoing.
Neighbor John Carpenter says he wishes he knew the dogs were in danger.
"Sometimes I had to close my windows in the warm air, because the dogs were so loud. The puppies sounded terrified,” Carpenter said.
All 45 animals were rescued and are currently in local shelters.
