WATERBORO (WGME) -- The York County Sheriff's Office says a 10-month-old baby needed to be Life Flighted to Maine Medical Center after a crash in Waterboro Thursday morning.

Police say the incident happened at the intersection of Main Street and Straw Mill Brook Road.

Officials say a 37-year-old Ellen Kennedy of Sanford was driving her 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee on Main Street, and had stopped to make a left-hand turn on to Straw Mill Brook Road. Kennedy's 10-month-old child was in the vehicle.

While they were stopped, the Jeep was struck from behind by a 2019 Freightliner 26' Box Truck driven by 53-year-old Rene Romero of Lynn, Massachusetts.

Police say the 10-month-old baby sustained serious injuries and was Life Flighted to Maine Medical Center. Romero and Kennedy were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Romero was arrested for Aggravated Driving to Endanger. His arraignment will be Friday, and no bail has been set.

Main Street in Waterboro was closed for several hours as police reconstructed the scene.
