SOUTH PORTLAND (WGME) -- Police say a shooting on April 12 in South Portland is no longer considered “suspicious” after investigators determined the victim’s gunshot wounds were reportedly self-inflicted, according to the Press Herald.
Police say they were called to the scene on B Street for a report of an unconscious man with a gunshot wound to the head.
According to the Press Herald, the 19-year-old Portland man remains hospitalized at Maine Medical Center.
Initially, authorities reported that the shooting was “suspicious,” however, police say a closer examination of the evidence suggested the man had shot himself, according to the Press Herald.
The Press Herald reports South Portland Police could not comment on whether the shooting was intentional or an accident.
