30 children become American citizens in Portland
PORTLAND (WGME) – Thirty children became American citizens during a naturalization ceremony at the Children's Museum and Theatre of Maine in Portland.
The group, between ages four and 16 years old, took the oath and then did the pledge of allegiance.
One of the newest citizens says she's been waiting five years for this day, and is most excited to perform her civic duty once she turns 18.
The new citizens are from countries all over the globe, now living in many Maine communities, including Portland, Gorham and Biddeford.
