WESTBROOK (WGME) -- A special wish went to a 7-year-old girl from Westbrook who is battling a respiratory disorder.
Seven-year-old Stella Axelsen knew exactly what she wanted for her wish this year.
“My wish was to have a she shed,” Stella said.
It's a project she designed herself, a backyard getaway with a rock-theme.
“A candy machine, a loft, chandelier, three bean bags, a couple, like 50 bracelet kits. I have an arts and crafts station, and even like a balloon dog statue, which I really like to be honest,” Stella said.
Stella has a respiratory disorder that limits what she can do, so this is a space to escape.
“Stella spends a lot of time doing treatment and taking medications and it takes up the bulk of her day, maintaining her health. So, getting her wish granted was really special,” said Samantha Rispoli, Stella's mom.
The day started with a limo ride. Make-A-Wish Maine picked Stella and her friends up at school.
“No one in my whole school has been in a limo,” Stella said.
Then came the big reveal with all of stella's family and friends.
“Seeing that they decked out the entire shed to her style and everything that she loves was wonderful,” Rispoli said.
“My favorite thing to do in the she shed is coloring or drawing. I also like making bracelets,” Stella said.
For Stella and her family, it was a day they will never forget.
“The entire experience was so fun, and I can't say enough about how wonderful it was to be a part of this experience to bring so much joy and excitement to her and our family,” Rispoli said.
“It felt like a dream come true,” Stella said.
