BOOTHBAY HARBOR (WGME) – A popular diner with iconic blueberry muffins in Arundel is up for auction.
Bob Sweeney ran Ashley's in Arundel for 20 years.
He shut it down a year and a half ago, and is putting it up for auction in a few weeks.
There was always a line out of the door for breakfast, hand-made by Sweeney, in this antique space.
He named the diner after his surrogate father, Ashley Perry, who helped raise Sweeney and his siblings.
Sweeney hopes a new owner will keep it as a restaurant, bringing people together, for a good meal.
“It would be nice to have some of these old shops staying preserved, and ya know the stories the events that have taken place here, could never repeat,” Sweeney said.
Sweeney hosted a preview Wednesday, and the property, which includes the diner, a house and a cabin, goes up for auction July 9.
