Costly cat hoarding case reaches the hands of the district attorney
CASCO (WGME) -- At the state house, a costly cat hoarding case is now in the hands of the Cumberland County District Attorney.
Casco Police did a welfare check at a home off Burgess Road in 2012 and found 70 cats inside.
The town chose to take care of the cats and rehabilitate them.
That cost the town more than $25,000.
The owner, Georgette Burgess Sanders, has refused to help pay the bill.
Casco is now taking legal action against Sanders.
The DA is reviewing the case.
