Saving You Money: Back To School Shopping
PORTLAND (WGME) -- Believe it or not, for some students in Maine, school is less than two weeks away.
That means if you haven't hit the stores yet, it's time to go find clothes and supplies for your children.
According to the National Retail Federation, the average family with school aged children spends nearly seven hundred dollars each year on back to school shopping.
That's why it's so important to plan ahead with a budget and start putting away money
A lot of financial institutions have special clubs or special accounts where consumers can start saving early. You can start one just like you would a holiday account.
Another tip, have a game plan. Make list of everything you need to buy.
Go online, check out apps and look in the paper for coupons and sales.
Buy some used items. Whether clothes or sports equipment, go to consignment shops to buy things at a fraction of the cost.
