South Portland police investigating early morning stabbing

SOUTH PORTLAND (WGME) -- One person is hospitalized with stab wounds and three people are in jail after an early morning stabbing in South Portland.

Around 2:10 a.m. Saturday South Portland police were checking out an area on Cannon Road where hours before they had been called when they found a fight in progress. After finding a "significant amount" of blood and a knife, police searched with a K-9 and found a possible victim, a 23-year-old man who was taken to the hospital with "significant wounds from an edged weapon."

While police said people on scene were not cooperative, three people were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct - Sugelle Warsame, 24, of South Portland, Alex Julien, 24, of Portland and Steeve Alphonse, 21, of Cambridge, Mass.

The incident remains under investigation, and police said there may be more charged filed.
