Maine woman sues GM over heated seat

AUGUSTA (WGME) -- A Maine woman, who claims she got third degree burns from a heated seat in her SUV, is now suing General Motors.

In a lawsuit, Emma Verrill claims GM didn't adequately test the rear seat heaters in her Chevy Suburban.

She says the error put the seats at quote "dangerously high temperatures that would burn human flesh."

Verrill, who now lives in Texas, is paralyzed from the waist down and can't feel hot and cold in her lower body.

GM denies the seat heater was defective or dangerous, denied causing Verrill's injury, and denied knowledge of a defect or failure to fix a defect.
