Former Portland Pirates coach sentenced for sexual misconduct
BELFAST (WGME) -- A former Portland Pirates coach, who sent pictures of his genitals to a 13-year-old girl, is sentenced.
Michael Minard, 37, a former assistant coach with the Pirates, pleaded no contest Wednesday in Waldo County Superior Court to sexual misconduct.
In November, the girl wrote on twitter that Minard was blocking her view from the player's box at a Pirates’ game.
Minard responded and the two eventually began texting.
According to our media partners at the Bangor Daily News, the girl told Minard her age numerous times, but still he asked her for pictures with fewer clothes on and police say she sent him pictures of herself in her underwear.
Minard admitted to sending a picture of his genitals. The girl said the messages became more sexual, and Minard even asked her to meet him at a Bangor hotel.
A judge sentenced Minard to 60 days in jail. He also must pay more than $500 for the victim's counseling.
