Nearly 200 service members reunite with family
LEWISTON (WGME) -- Nearly 200 members of the Maine Army National Guard are reunited with their families after serving nine months in Afghanistan.
Members of the 133rd returned home Sunday to a ceremony. The group gave operational guidance to six engineer companies spread across an area the size of Texas and Oklahoma. They also gave survey support to the larges Air Force construction project ever undertaken.
Service members who spoke with CBS 13 News called the experience eye-opening. "Seeing what we saw over there - it's definitely different going from America to a third-world country," said Sgt. Orie Bartlett. "We learned a lot of new things that I never knew."
